While southern Ontario gets teased with some stretches of mild winter weather, in the Muskokas any dreams of golf are snowed under and frozen well into early spring. North Granite Ridge was a mid-summer play for me and within a region of the country I regrettably don’t have much experience playing. This course, looking back, is a nice sweet spot between value and beauty. Sure there are nicer courses and one can comb for better value in the area, but marrying quality and affordability and providing a tranquil, enjoyable yet challenging course, NGR is a place I’d to visit more often.
Iconic Muskoka chairs located on holes throughout the course accentuate the feel of this cottage country course. And with a spacious clubhouse which feels like a log cabin cottage I really didn’t want to leave! There are many holes which could be considered as signature, but the par 4 3rd is rightfully named. Located in Port Sydney, and minutes off Highway 11, it is easy to access. I know I’ll be back.
