Canadian Golf Brands to Embrace – 2.0

Like many others, golf has taken on an even more important role in my life amid this global pandemic.  The success of the sport is at an incredible peak, with an over 20% increase in participation across Canada.  It has proven itself to be a safe and enjoyable recreational activity.  And with this increased interest, has come an increased focus (by me, anyway) on supporting Canadian golf companies.  I had written a post in 2019 looking at some Canadian golf brands I enjoy and appreciate.  I invite you to check that post out and look to support those companies.  But here are some more.  Many of these I have supported, but there are some I have yet to try (and that will need to change soon).  As a new golf entrepreneur, myself, supporting Canadian has new meaning.

Haywood Golf – I am just beginning my relationship with this west coast club maker.  With a set of wedges in a raw finish in the bag for 2021, I can see that being just the start.  I applaud their quality, but it is the clear communication and commitment to service that will have me coming back to explore other products.

Red Rooster Golf – How does a golf glove subscription service sound to you?  What if they are one of the best gloves you have ever worn?  Need more still; how about that they are a new Canadian company, and, that they invoke a buy one – donate one policy.  With traditional and bold designs, your glove game will never have been better.  The marketing here has been superior and with the company set for a late spring kick off, the steps they’re taking to create awareness and interest in their products is worth Canadian golfers’ attention

Best wedges I have played. The fact that they are Canadian is a massive bonus, but feel and performance are key and these are on point.

Golf Away Tours – Global vaccination efforts are giving golfers looking to head overseas to play considerable confidence and excitement.  But with options and the challenges (and pressure) of booking an overseas golf getaway it is sometimes best to leave it to the pros.  TJ and the team at Golf Away Tours offer access to some of the best courses in the world at competitive pricing.  While I have not experienced them personally, I have heard nothing but good things from their services by people I trust.  Check their list of destinations and you’ll know why ‘golf experience’ is aptly identified on their website.

Greenside Social – This is not just another golfers’ beer, well it is, but it is unique, clear, and clean and, well, with an endorsement from the PGA of Ontario already in their stable in their early days, this will be another option for golfers to enjoy on and off the course while supporting a Canadian company.  Call it is a win-win.

Clean and smooth, this is going to become a popular golf brand in Canada.

Kandy Golf – This apparel brand, based in the Dartmouth, N.S., is a bold and brash brand which has piqued my attention.  I love that they have a dedicated line for women, a group who is playing more golf than ever here in Canada.  They also offer quality products which focus on performance, as they’re golfers too.  You can order online but you’ll find their products in over a dozen pro shops in the Maritimes (for now, likely more to come).  It’s a fun look, affordable and with an eye to performance, well, it ticks off all boxes for me.

Catalogue 18 – This is one of my favourite golf publications, I have read and re-read the issues I have many times because each time I do I notice and enjoy something different.  It is hard to miss; it is quite large, doubling as a golf and art magazine. The pictures are world class, making me feel like I have experienced courses from across Canada and around the world.  Add to it some excellent writing to complement the images and for the days and evenings when golf just isn’t possible it is the truly one of the next best things.  You can receive issues through a subscription service, and it is a fabulous gift for the golfer in your life who seemingly has everything.

A great gift. It’s just so good. And on a cold winter day, the images invoke dreams of fairways, sunshine and, dare I say, days of 36.

Until The Next Tee – This blog is relatively new to me, but not others.  And with a new podcast getting started, Alex is doing some good work to keep us informed around many things golf.  Alex is venturing out even further to launch a clever and enjoyable apparel line.  At the end of the day, watching Alex’s development happen in real time over social media, it is a fun line. UTNT is a brand to watch, support and wear!

Mildly addicted to the game of golf. Fiercely loyal. A planner, a dreamer, reflective and a proud and passionate Canadian. A father. A fiancé. A tree planter. A Trent graduate. A dog owner. Falling in love with my putter after many failed relationships. A scratch golfer stuck in a 10 handicap body. Love, love, love golf value. Fade on a good day. One ace (and seeking a second). A golf writer/blogger focused on public golf in Canada. Chipping away at my own Bucket List of Canadian golf courses.
